HISTORY OF THE SALT BOWL
On September 19, 1974, a tradition began. Two high school football teams met for the first time. Benton and Bryant battled it out at C.W. Lewis Stadium in Benton.
Fast forward to 2000, both head coaches decided that this tradition had outgrown a high school football stadium. The only venue that could accommodate this community was War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock. It was then and there that The Salt Bowl was born.
THE TRADITION CONTINUES…
The Salt Bowl, played at War Memorial Stadium each year will be held on August 30, 2019 including a tailgate party and a week of festivities leading up to the start of the game at 7 pm.
Come watch the rivalry of the year with us and cheer on the maroon or blue to victory!
